The following is a listing of current ministries that are a part of the Pleasant Ridge congregation.  In the coming months we hope to connect you with ministry opportunities that match your giftedness, passions, abilities, and personality.  If you would like more information about any of these ministry opportunities, please contact the church office.

 

CARING FOR OTHERS

 

Adopt-A-Family

A ministry partnered with the Community Enrichment Center to aid and educate families who meet the criteria for acceptance.                   

 

Blood Bank

This ministry provides blood and blood products as a gift to the community through a blood drive held in December.             

 

Community Benevolence (Assistance for Non-Members of Pleasant Ridge)

Pleasant Ridge provides financial support for individuals within the community when there is a qualifying need.          

 

Christ’s Haven

A children’s home located in Keller, Texas. Pleasant Ridge is given the opportunity to imitate Christ’s love by gathering school supplies, planning and giving a Christmas party with gifts and providing monthly financial support.

    

Friends Speak

A ministry outreach partnered with Park Row Church of Christ in which individuals meet and read God’s word with Asian students to teach them English by studying the Gospel of Luke.

 

Hearts & Hands

A food pantry housed on the North Davis Church property serving as an outreach to families in need within the Arlington community.  Pleasant Ridge gathers supplies through food drives and monetary contributions.

 

Scouting

Many of our members as well as others in the Arlington area are involved in this ministry.  The Boy Scout Troop 379 is sponsored by Pleasant Ridge and they meet weekly in the pavilion.

 

Sonshine Bible School

A Mother’s Day Out pre-school program for children twelve months through pre-kindergarten age.  Sonshine School allows each child many opportunities to socialize and gain spiritual as well as academic growth while under the supervision of caring teachers.  The two to three day program is structured for different age levels with registration and tuition fees set accordingly.

 

World Bible School

This is a world-wide program in which many members of Pleasant Ridge are involved. They meet weekly to grade and prepare a series of lessons for correspondence studies for English speaking students.

 

CARING FOR OURSELVES

 

Blood Bank

This ministry provides blood and blood products when needed by our members through a blood drive held each year in May.   

 

Forty-Niners

This group is made up of about 330 adult Christians. Their age varies from 55 to over 90 years of age. They enjoy being together, whether it is on a trip or working together in one of the church ministries.  

   

Hope Chest

This is a ministry in which we provide support and funds for those within our own family here at PR who are in need of assistance. 

 

Job Bank

This ministry is set-up to assist those in our membership who are looking for employment.  This includes résumé assistance, job search assistance, etc.   

 

Men’s Ministry

Men’s Advance

This is a weekend leadership retreat held once a year away from PR for spiritual growth and development.   This is a great time of fellowship and Christian focus.

Men’s Fall / Spring Golf Tournament

This golf tournament is held two times a year at one of the local courses.  This is a great time of fellowship for men of all ages.

Men’s Game Night

This is a night full of Christian fellowship, food and fun.  This event is held annually on a Friday evening with games of all kinds, ranging from dominoes to X-box.     

 

Shut-Ins

This ministry is an outreach to check on and support those of our family, who are unable to attend because of illness or other reasons.              

 

Single Parents

This ministry reaches out to those families with only one parent functioning as the leader of the home.

 

Women's Ministry

Back-to-School Prayer Brunch

This is a special brunch which allows women an opportunity to share concerns about the challenges facing our children and to lift these concerns up in prayer.

Bulletin Boards

This ministry prepares the bulletin board in the foyer to display the various events and ministries of our church family.

Card Ministry

This ministry provides cards for all occasions as spiritual encouragement for our members.  The volunteers make certain all cards are addressed and mailed each week.

Christmas Baskets

This ministry provides gift baskets for those members of our congregation        who are in need of special attention at Christmas time. Various items are collected and beautiful baskets are prepared and delivered to spread holiday cheer.

Communion Bread

This ministry is made up of various groups of volunteers within the congregation who prepare the communion bread so that there will always be a fresh supply for each Sunday.

GALS (Glorifying a Loving Savior)

This ministry is made of single women over the age of forty-five who meet together for support and encouragement throughout the year through various activities.

Kitchen

This ministry insures that the kitchen is clean, well organized, stocked, and convenient for heating and serving food or refreshments whenever needed by the congregation.

Ladies’ Day

This annual event, held on a Saturday in January, offers a special day of encouragement and edification as well as fun and fellowship.

Ladies' Fall Retreat

The fall retreat is held annually in a hotel-type environment or at the PR building.   

This time is spent growing in our knowledge of the Lord, growing closer to Him and to each other.

Ladies' Night Out

This annual event held in the fall offers an evening of enjoyment and fellowship for women to feel like they have had a special night out. This evening includes a catered meal and childcare. The programs range from inspirational, encouraging speakers to fun, informative presentations. 

Ladies' Spring Retreat

The spring retreat is held annually at a camp setting.  This “in house”          retreat offers relaxation, rejuvenation, revitalization and renewal while growing spiritually.

Ladies’ Wednesday Evening Prayer and Study Group

This small group of women meets each week to read scripture and take prayer requests. This small group is conductive to intimacy and often allows the scriptural forum for confession, edification and support.

Let’s Get Acquainted

This is a welcoming ministry which provides an opportunity for all ladies new to PR to form friendships and introduce them to areas of service in our ladies’ ministries.

Piecemakers

This ministry meets every fourth Thursday and is a wonderful opportunity for        fellowship, teaching, service and “fine tuning” of one’s sewing skills.  These ladies learn to use their talents and skills, sewing and quilting to provide articles for the needy and gifts for shut-ins.

Shower Gift Groups

This ministry helps to organize groups of 2-6 women who are willing to take turns buying a gift and making sure it gets to the appropriate wedding or baby shower.

Shower Hostess Groups

This ministry is organized to host showers for our newly married members and expectant mothers. There are several hostess groups who rotate in planning and hosting the showers.

Supplemental Food Committee

This ministry helps care groups when needed to prepare meals for those in need.  This ministry also coordinates meals for those not assigned to a Care Group.

Women's Information Center

This ministry provides an area for the ladies to share information and promote ladies’ ministries.

Women of the Word (WOW)

This ministry is an in depth study promoting daily Bible reading, in which ladies are involved in intimate group discussions with enriched spiritual growth.

                                               

EVANGELISM

 

Christian Campus Center  (Tri-C)

This is a ministry reaching out to domestic and international students on the campus of University of Texas at Arlington.

Meadowview

A retirement and nursing facility in Arlington where members of Pleasant Ridge host a weekly service and offer communion each Sunday.

 

Missions

This is a ministry which supports all missions of Pleasant Ridge and its members. 

 

Prison Ministry

An outreach to inmates at a local facility in southeast Fort Worth.  This is a ministry through which men willing to serve conduct church services on Sunday morning and study sessions on Thursday evening.

 

The Village at P.R. (Senior Adult Housing)

A senior adult housing ministry consisting of four one-bedroom units. These units are located on the south end of the PR property. The purpose is to provide comfortable and convenient housing for our aged members.

 

EDUCATION

 

Cradle Roll

This Bible class is for infants up to eighteen months of age.


Curriculum Lab

Resources for teachers including materials, curriculum, props, etc.

 

Elementary

Provides Bible classes for children in kindergarten through sixth grade.

 

Library

There are hundreds of books and commentaries available for research and resources. 

 

Nursery

The nursery provides care for newborn infants up to eighteen months of age during Bible Class time and the second Worship Service.

 

Teacher Appreciation

This is a dinner held each year in honor of all those who serve in a teaching capacity at PR. 

 

Teacher Training

Various opportunities and resources for training each year through seminars, etc.

 

Toddler Bible Class (Sun. and Wed.)

This Bible class is for toddlers ages eighteen through twenty-four months.

 

Vacation Bible School

This is an outreach to the community offered each summer for children ages three years old through fifth grade.  A large number of our members are active in this outreach, in which the facilities are transformed into the Bible times of long ago, and children and adults alike are blessed by sharing the love of the Father to all who attend.

 

STEERING COMMITTEE

 

Building and Property Maintenance

This ministry helps to maintain and beautify the building and grounds with the help of those willing to volunteer for various duties.


Financial Planning

This ministry oversees the budget process.

 

Vehicles -   Bus Drivers (CDL license required)

This ministry provides opportunities for those willing to serve as drivers for various activities.

 

Vehicles - Maintenance and Repair

This ministry provides opportunities for those willing to serve either in maintenance of the vehicles or as drivers for various activities.

 

Vehicles -   Van Drivers

This ministry provides opportunities for those willing to serve as drivers for various activities.     

 

SHEPHERDING THE FAMILY

 

Care Group Ministry

A ministry designed to help develop relational support through small groups. The Care Group leaders are informed of member illness, death or tragedy so that support can be offered. Each Care Group meets on the third Sunday of each month for spiritual growth and fellowship, with the exception of the summer months, November and December.  These groups usually gather for lunch or supper.  They meet in various places, such as the church building, member’s homes, parks and restaurants.

 

Congregational Life Ministry Team

The vision of this team is that every member at Pleasant Ridge will understand ministry involvement as a part of the larger, ongoing process of being formed into the image of the ultimate servant – Jesus Christ.  Armed with that understanding, every member will explore ministry pathways that will build up Pleasant Ridge into a church family of ever-maturing members, changing the world for Christ.

 

Guest Services

A ministry designed to meet and greet all of our guests from the very second they drive onto our parking lot where they are greeted with front row designated guest parking.  Upon entry of our facility where they are greeted with the friendly, helpful faces of our greeters and those manning our Guest               Services Center where they can receive information and assistance.

 

WORSHIP

Audio/Video Library

There are many different resources of spiritual materials for all ages.                     

 

Audio/Video & Power Point

This is a ministry of technical support for the recording of the worship services and various other activities. This is a ministry of technical support for announcements, hymns and sermon presentation for the worship services.  Volunteers in this ministry serve on a monthly rotation.

 

Baptismal Support

This ministry ensures that each person being baptized has everything he or she needs from towels to loving support.  Volunteers take responsibility for each service to help during the baptism and care for baptismal garments and towels.

 

Children's Worship (Second Service)

This ministry is made up of volunteers to provide an age appropriate worship program during the worship time for children ages eighteen months through five years. 

 

Communion Preparation

This ministry is made up of those individuals willing to come early each Sunday morning to prepare the bread and juice trays for the communion.  Volunteers in this ministry serve on a weekly rotation.

 

Communion Service

This ministry is made up of men in the congregation willing to serve the Lord’s Supper each week.  Volunteers in this ministry serve on a monthly rotation.

 

Contribution Count

This ministry is made of those willing to count the collection and prepare the     deposit for the bank each week.

 

Prayer Leaders

This ministry consists of men in the congregation willing to lead prayers during the worship service.     

 

Ushers

This ministry is made up of men of the congregation willing to assist people in finding classes and a place to sit during worship service.

 

Worship Coordinator

This ministry is set up to organize all those who serve in the worship service.      

 

YOUTH AND FAMILY

 

YOUTH

Kids For Christ

This Youth program begins at the third grade level and continues through the sixth grade. They have a wide variety of activities to promote individual spiritual growth and service to others.

 

Leadership Training for Christ (LTC)

This ministry is a spiritual learning experience open to the youth from third through twelfth grade offering numerous categories of participation in spiritual growth and activities.  These range from single scripture reading to an in depth study of the scripture for Bible bowl and Bible quiz; from individual song leading to small and large group chorus and from signing for the deaf to scrap booking.  These very special events take place the weekend of Easter each year.  Young people from all over come together to share and compete in various areas of Christian growth among their Christian peers.

 

Youth

Pleasant Ridge has a very active ministry for seventh through twelfth graders and their families which offers a wide variety of activities for Christian fellowship and spiritual growth, as well as many ways to serve others locally in the community and abroad on mission trips.  There are age specific activities for Junior High and for High School Young People along with combined activities.

 

FAMILY

Family Enrichment

This ministry is designed to provide support for families through classes, seminars, events, retreats, etc.

 

Single Professionals

Pleasant Ridge is continually searching for avenues to minister in every aspect of life to provide for singles, whether in college, working adults or single again.

 

Stephen Ministry

This is a special ministry made up of individuals within our congregation who have had formal training and are equipped to walk along side of those individuals who are experiencing different types of life needs and circumstances.
