Who are the Forty Niners?

A unique group of members aged 55 and older, the 49ers are involved with activities including social gatherings, trips, and service projects for the community and church. This is a very loving and caring group. The ministry has two distinct areas of work. First is the service/caring area of work and the second area consists of fellowship, trips and recreation.

Soon after the Glen Garden church became Pleasant Ridge, the 49ers were organized.  The 49ers have so much talent that a need was recognized to balance the “fun and fellowship activities” with ministry to the needs of others.  Thus the current 49ers began.

Forty Niner Leadership

49er ministry coordinators include Dwaine and Mary Wood, Richard and Karen Ham, Ken and Dorothy Jones, Tom and Lorene Pipkin, Gary and Judy Cohn, Carlton Holt and Doug Woolsey.

When do they meet?

The 49ers meet the second Friday of each month (except November) at 6 o’clock in the Family Life Center for food, fellowship and games.  In November, the 49ers meet after second service on the Sunday before Thanksgiving for a Thanksgiving luncheon.  There are additional planned activities during the year; one long trip, day trips or a monthly eat-out.
