Background

God has dedicated over 2,300 verses in His Bible to money and possessions – more than any other single topic.  Because of all God teaches us about money and possessions and the wrong attitudes toward money our society holds, this ministry was started in the summer of 2005 to begin promoting and teaching biblical stewardship concepts.

Ministry Theme

Colossians 1:16 – For by Him all things were created: things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or powers or rulers or authorities; all things were created by Him and for Him.

Ministry Purpose

To experience true freedom from worry, materialism, and financial stress, we must view our money, possessions, and resources in light of eternity and God’s ownership.  This ministry strives to offer practical resources to our church family that will bring about healthy attitudes, decisions, and practices.

Financial Coaching

Whether trying to “put out fires” that have resulted from financial decisions, create a budget, establish financial goals, or simply evaluate their finances, meeting with an objective, independent person can often be beneficial for a person.  Specific examples of people who can benefit include those:

  • struggling with a heavy debt load,
  • experiencing the loss of a job or major financial crisis,
  • dealing with family, marriage, or mental stress resulting from financial issues,
  • wishing to proactively set financial goals and establish a budget to meet those goals,
  • blessed with a financial surplus and wanting to be an effective steward of their finances,
  • needing an independent person to simply evaluate their financial situation, and
  • who are engaged and preparing for marriage.

Through our financial coaching ministry, individuals and couples are afforded the opportunity to meet one-on-one with a trained financial coach, who will objectively and confidentially discuss their situation with them to help them arrive at the biblical solutions needed to move ahead.

In a comprehensive coaching process, the following steps will be addressed over a 4-8 week period.

  • Assessment of the financial situation by establishing a balance sheet, listing of debts, and monthly income & expense summary.
  • Establishment of financial goals.
  • Creation of a monthly spending plan or budget.

Financial Coaches are also available to answer specific questions on financial or stewardship matters, provide evaluations of financial situations, or discuss the stewardship of financial surplus.

To meet with a financial coach, please call Pat Malone at the church office.  You can also e-mail questions to Joan Hastings at hastingscpa@hotmail.com or Jamie Mihills at jmihillscpa@sbcglobal.net.

Small Group Biblical Financial Studies

Many of us have been taught what the scriptures say about giving but not what God teaches us about the rest of our money.  In a small group study designed by Crown Financial Ministries, participants will have the opportunity to study in-depth what God’s Word teaches about managing all of our possessions.  This study is both biblical and practical.  Because these groups will include no more than 12 people, participants will also have the wonderful opportunity to build and develop relationships with those in your group.  Topics include:

  • God’s Part
  • Debt
  • Giving
  • Saving
  • Spending
  • Earning
  • Counsel
  • Budgeting
  • Investing
  • Perspective
  • Eternity

For more information on Crown small groups, please contact Todd McCalip at mtm_tlm@sbcglobal.net or go to the Crown Financial Ministries website at www.crown.org.

Education

Stewardship involves not just our money but also our time, talents, and relationships.  Throughout the year, we will offer Wednesday night classes and practical seminars dealing with a variety of stewardship topics from God’s word.  For information on upcoming classes or seminars, please contact Jamie Mihills at jmihillscpa@sbcglobal.net.

Ministry Newsletter/files/Ministries/Stewarship/stewarship1.jpg

Periodically, we will publish a newsletter addressing financial and stewardship topics and providing different financial resources.  To submit questions or ideas to be addressed in this newsletter or to sign up for the electronic distribution list, please e-mail Caleb Hastings at caleb@highcampmedia.com.
